The compensation for the families of the victims of Khalifa Haftar will be approved by Judge Leonie Brinkema of the Virginia court before September 30th, the head of the Libyan-American coalition Essam Omeish has confirmed.

Haftar did not attend the hearing, but he participated with his lawyer in the pleadings and answered more than 30, during which he acknowledged his US citizenship, Omeish said.

He noted that this case would leverage the Bureau of Investigation and the US Department of Justice to open future inquiries against Haftar, including his involvement with the Russian Wagner Group and the Syrian regime.

It is noteworthy that the Virginia court convicted Haftar, on Friday, of war crimes in Libya, after three years of pleadings before the court.
