The United States of America called on Wednesday on all parties to de-escalate tensions and to respect the Libyan-led, legal, and administrative electoral processes underway.

“The United States shares the concerns of Libyans and the international community that armed actors and the risk of violence not be allowed to threaten elections scheduled to start Dec. 24 and the aspirations of millions of Libyans to cast their votes.” The US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, said in a brief statement published by his country’s embassy on its official Twitter page.
