The Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Libya, Stephanie Williams, has met a group of High Council of State (HCS) members as part of her continuing consultations with Libyan parties and institutions.

During the meeting, the HCS members expressed their views on the political situation and offered their vision for a way out of the current impasse.

For her part, Williams reiterated that the best way forward is to enable the holding of fair, credible, and inclusive elections, on a firm constitutional and legal basis.

“Thus, it is key that the UN-facilitated talks between the House of Representatives (HoR) and the HCS begin without further delay”, Williams added.
