Zueitina Oil Company has resumed production at the Al-Sabah oil field, bringing the first well back online after a decade-long shutdown due to sabotage in 2015, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) said.
The revived well is producing around 600 barrels per day (bpd), with crude being transported via mobile tankers to the Zella field, located 90 kilometers away. The first shipment since operations ceased in 2015 is set to be dispatched on Sunday.
Zueitina Oil has outlined a two-phase plan to ramp up production. The initial phase targets the reactivation of two wells, boosting output to 1,200 bpd.
The second phase will see the installation of an early production facility, integrating 17 additional wells to increase capacity to 4,000 bpd by Q4 2025. The field’s total output is expected to reach 5,000 bpd once fully operational.
