Libya's Ambassador to the United Nations, Taher El-Sonni, held discussions with Pedro Afonso, Mozambique's representative and current chair of the UN Security Council, on Wednesday.

The meeting reviewed Libya's political situation and the African Group's support for Libyan stability and resolution of the ongoing crisis.

El-Sonni tweeted via the X platform that they discussed the upcoming Security Council session on Libya scheduled for the 14th of this month, which will include a briefing by the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

According to El-Sonni, the meeting also addressed developments in Gaza and recent threats of invading the city of Rafah, highlighting the importance of implementing Security Council Resolution 2728, which calls for an immediate ceasefire.
