Libya has bid farewell to a beloved senior doctor who died at the age of 68 as a result of heart disease-related complications.

Dr. Saleh Naghmoush a professor of surgery died last Saturday after more than a 30-year career serving mainly at public hospitals despite the challenges and difficult working conditions in government facilities.

Patients, colleagues, and students remember his rousing spirit as they mourn his loss. He was regarded throughout the community as a kind and patient caregiver, who lends his help and advice to everyone who needs it.

Dr. Saleh Muhammad Naghmoush was born in the capital's eastern suburb of Tajoura in 1952 and was one of the first graduates of the Faculty of Medicine in Libya after its establishment before he traveled to the UK to complete his studies.

Unlike many who dream of a life in a western country, with a high income and a luxurious life, Dr. Naghmoush gave up all these advantages and returned to his hometown to leverage his expertise to serve his community, which is in dire need of competent physicians.

As he was patient with those surrounding him, he also faced his illness with courage and satisfaction, and despite his long-suffering from ill health you never hear him complain, his family told The Libya Observer.
