Najla

Foreign Minister Najla Al-Manqoush headed a delegation to the Iranian capital Tehran to talk over issues of common interest between Libya and Iran, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.

The ministry said the two sides will hold a series of discussions, focusing on steps to resume diplomatic representation and developing economic cooperation between the two countries.

They agreed to activate the Libyan-Iranian joint committee and to enhance cooperation in the health, technical, and industrial fields, as well as encourage an exchange of official visits.

Al-Manqoush affirmed her government's position in supporting the Saudi Kingdom's initiative regarding starting a new phase of Arab-Iranian relations based on the common interests of the countries and nations of the region.

FM Al Manqoush arrived Tuesday in Tehran on an official working visit, the first for a high-level Libyan delegation to Tehran in 16 years.
