The Amazigh Supreme Council (ASC) has lashed out at Khalifa Haftar’s self-styled army, saying it does not represent Libya’s Amazigh cities and towns.

The ASC said in a statement on Sunday that “so-called the Libyan Arab Army is just terrorist ethnic militias and that the real Libyan Army is the one that represents all Libyan races”, in response to a recent TV statement by General Khalifa Haftar in which he justified naming his army as “Libyan Arab Army” to the fact that “the majority of Libyan people are from the Arab race”.

“The ASC rejects the military rule under any name and it wants to see a civil democratic state based on equality and pluralism”, the statement reads.

It added that the TV statement of so-called Khalifa Haftar is a blatant violation of United Nations Charter on Human Rights and other international treaties and charters.

“We call the international community to take responsibility and legal obligations against such dangerous acts”. The ASC concludes.
