The UN envoy to Libya Abdoulaye Bathily said on X platform he had exchanged views with the US Chargé d'Affaires Jeremy Berndt in Tunis and reviewed the political developments in Libya, adding that they had compared notes on the situation, including UNSMIL efforts to convene the five major actors and engage relevant stakeholders on the path to elections.

Bathily added that he had welcomed the US support for bringing together the institutional stakeholders in a meeting to resolve the political issues around elections. 

"We urge all stakeholders to name their representatives & engage in constructive dialogue that puts Libya firmly on the path to elections." Bathily said.

The US Chargé d'Affaires expressed Washington's strong support for Bathily's efforts to bring together institutional stakeholders to resolve the political issues that stand in the way of elections. He urged all stakeholders to name their representatives as soon as possible to participate in the preparatory talks for the UN mission and to enter into a constructive dialogue to put Libya on the path to long-term stability.
