Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah received the newly appointed Ukrainian Ambassador to Libya, Volodymyr Khomanets, to follow up on the Libyan Antonov cargo plane detained in Kyiv.

A statement by the Hakomitna platform said the PM emphasized his government's firm position that the aircraft should be returned to Libya as soon as possible.

The Ukrainian diplomat met with Dbeibah after presenting his credentials to the Presidential Council's Head, Muhammed Menfi, at a ceremony on Thursday.

The PM reviewed with Ambassador Khomanets the situation in Libya and Ukraine and ways to strengthen bilateral relations across all areas of mutual interest.

He also called on the Ukrainian ambassador to continue coordination efforts to reopen the Ukrainian embassy in Tripoli.

For his part, the ambassador conveyed the greetings of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, praising the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries.
