The Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah, discussed Sunday with the UN advisor on Libya, Stephanie Williams, the latest developments in the country, a statement by the Government of National Unity said.

Dbeibah confirmed to Williams the need to follow through with the roadmap approved in Geneva, saying all parties have a responsibility for paving the way for holding elections and constitutional referendum this year.

Dbeibah added that he had discussed with political stakeholders over the last period to devise a roadmap tied to a timeline to conduct national elections and other entitlements ensured by the roadmap of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Geneva.

Williams said on Twitter that she had discussed recent developments and the votes taken by the House of Representatives to adopt a constitutional amendment and designate a new Prime Minister with Dbeibah.

“We reviewed the process underway and I reiterated the importance for all actors and institutions to work within the political framework and, above all, to preserve calm on the ground in the interest of Libya’s unity and stability. The United Nations remains committed to raising the voices of the 2.8 million Libyans who registered to vote.” Williams added.
