The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reaffirmed the special nature of Egyptian-Libyan relations during a meeting with Khalifa Haftar in Cairo on Saturday, in the presence of the Chief of Egyptian Intelligence Agency Hassan Rashad.
El-Sisi has said that Libya's stability is closely linked to Egyptian national security, noting that Egypt is making every effort to ensure security and stability in Libya, according to the Egyptian presidential spokesman.
El-Sisi stressed the importance of coordination between all Libyan parties to formulate an integrated political roadmap that leads to holding presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously, and he reiterated the need to prevent foreign interference and remove all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libyan territory.
According to the Egyptian presidential spokesman's statement, Haftar stressed his appreciation for the pivotal role played by Egypt in "restoring stability in Libya."
Haftar also hailed the role played by Egyptian companies in Libya, stressing "the continuation of efforts aimed at resolving the crisis in Libya, which would contribute to restoring the capabilities of the Libyan people and opening up prospects for stability and prosperity."
