President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Roberto Fico, has said that Europe is pursuing a wrong policy towards the Libyan crisis.
Speaking to Al Jazeera channel on Tuesday, the Italian official who is a left-wing member in the "Five-star Movement" argued that "Europe spoke with several voices and therefore, it made mistakes".
He emphasized that it is necessary for Europe to come under a common approach, considering the Berlin conference an important step forward on the path to a ceasefire and in an attempt to reunify the country.
Fico underscored that no party should finance or supply weapons to the warring parties in Libya.
"Dialogue, cooperation, and political solutions are the core means of achieving stability in Libya and the Mediterranean region as a whole," he stressed.
The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is expected to hold a follow-up meeting to the Berlin conference on Libya today, via video conferencing, according to Italian Aki news agency.
