Ibrahim Al-Dressi

The Libya Crimes Watch (LCW) has renewed its call to the "security and military authorities in the east of the country" to immediately reveal the fate of House of Representatives member Ibrahim Al-Darsi, 10 months after his disappearance.

In a statement on Saturday, the organization called on the Attorney General to open an immediate, comprehensive, transparent, and independent investigation to uncover the circumstances of Al-Darsi's disappearance, identify the parties or individuals involved in the kidnapping, and ensure they are brought to justice in accordance with the law.

Parliament member Ibrahim Al-Darsi was arrested by unknown gunmen in Benghazi on May 16, 2024, before his car was later found in Sidi Faraj area east of the city. Since then, contact with him has been completely lost, and his fate remains unknown to this day.

LCW said it monitored the release of House of Representatives member Hassan Al-Farjani, two years after his arbitrary detention in Mitiga Prison, which is under the control of the Deterrence Apparatus for Combating Organized Crime and Terrorism.

The organization quoted Al-Farjani's family as saying that his release came after the Supreme Military Court accepted the appeal they had filed against the sentence, in addition to pressure exerted on the Deterrence Force to implement it.
