The Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sirraj met Friday in Rome the Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and discussed the preparations for the Palermo Conference on Libya, which will be held on November 12-13.
Al-Sirraj told Conte how appreciative his government is for Italy’s role and efforts to break the political stalemate in Libya.
They also reviewed the latest security arrangements and package of reforms done by the government in Tripoli and across Libya, as well as fighting illegal immigration and assisting Libya’s coastguards and border guards with training projects.
Al-Sirraj also told Conte that his government supports the efforts of the UN envoy Ghassan Salame as regards to the solution of the Libyan crisis, calling for a unified stance by international and regional stakeholders and for commitment by the Palermo Conference attendees to whatever results come out of it so Libya can have a civil and democratic state through elections.
