The Foreign Minister of the Presidential Council's government Mohammed Sayala said he has no information for any upcoming meeting between Fayez Al-Sirraj and the commander of the self-styled army in eastern Libya Khalifa Haftar.
Sayala added that there are lots of efforts to strike compromise and to build bridges between us and Haftar.
The remarks came in a presser on Tuesday in Tripoli.
The Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has lately disclosed that a meeting between Al-Sirraj and Haftar in Rome to broker a solution to the political deadlock in Libya.
Sayala also indicated that a Libyan lawyer has been assigned to defend the Libyan citizens arrested recently in Italy on charges of human trafficking.
He clarified that the Italian judiciary issued a prison sentence against Libyan nationals but his ministry is working to transfer the detainees to Libyan prisons in coordination with the Italian authorities in order to be tried before the Libyan courts and serve their sentences in Libya.
Sayala also talked about the agreement with the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to form joint working teams in oil, energy, infrastructure and reconstruction projects.
He also said that Russia has various interests in Libya, adding that the Presidential Council government is working on returning mutual relations as the used to be with Moscow.
"We haven't asked for a full lifting of the ban but only a partial one to fight terrorism and to boost the capabilities of the coastguards." Sayala remarked.
