Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, received on Wednesday Chairman of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj, who arrived in Ankara on a working visit.

The talks highlighted the latest developments in the political scene in Libya and the bilateral relations and ways to enhance them, as well as economic cooperation between the two countries.

Al-Sarraj reviewed during the talks efforts to achieve national consensus among all actors on the Libyan arena to end the current crisis, within the parameters outlined in the political agreement, including, the civil state and the unification of the military establishment and other sovereign institutions, in addition to conducting elections by the end of this year.

"The current state of division can’t continue and there will be no military solution to the crisis, everyone; institutions and parties must realize that the return of stability depends on consensus," Sarraj said," confirming the UN's agreement with this approach. 

For his part, Erdogan confirmed his support for the democratic process in Libya and his agreement with what Al-Sarraj put forward.

"Turkey stands with the choices of the Libyan people and is ready to contribute effectively to the security and stability of this fraternal country," he said.
