Protesters in the Oil Crescent Region threatened, during a protest on Monday, to close the fields if their demand to transfer five companies to the Oil Crescent Region is not met.

A video statement by those calling themselves the "Oil Crescent Region Movement" stated that their region suffers from what they have described as "marginalization and poor utilization of resources at a time when there are oil fields that support the national economy."

The oil companies mentioned in the video statement are: Al-Waha, Al-Zuetina, Al-Haroug, Al-Sarir, and Al-Mabrouk.

According to the statement, the protesters gave the National Oil Corporation "two weeks from the date of this statement to implement these demands," threatening to resort to closing the fields and the oil ports in the region until the demands are met.
