The Chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, held a meeting on Monday to follow-up the file of Libyan frozen assets and funds abroad and the measures taken to ensure their legal protection, according to the Information Office of the Presidential Council.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Mohammad Sayala, Planning Minister Tahir Jahimi, and Chairman of the Libyan Investment Authority Ali Mahmoud.

The Information Office of the Presidential Council clarified that Al-Sarraj was briefed on a report in this regard and the contacts with the Security Council Sanctions Committee on the Libyan demands to manage the frozen assets and funds.

The meeting also discussed the follow-up actions taken to ensure that the assets and funds were safeguarded.

The UN Security Council issued on 26 February 2011 resolution (1970), which provides sanctions on the former Libyan regime and the freezing of Libyan assets and funds abroad.
