The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has denied the news circulating about the imminent announcement of a new road map that includes freezing the work of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State.

UNSMIL stated that all that reports circulated by the media about a new road map is only part of the ongoing disinformation campaign to deceive the Libyans and divert their attention from the entitlements they are demanding.

It indicated that its envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily confirmed, during his recent briefing to the Security Council, his commitment to bringing together all concerned parties and institutions in Libya, including the House of Representatives and the High Council of State.

The statement further stated that Bathily is seeking, through his efforts, to reach a comprehensive agreement on controversial issues in the electoral bills prepared by the (6 + 6) committee to ensure its applicability in preparation for successful elections.

UNSMIL called on activists and the media to rely only on its official website for accurate and reliable news.

Local and international media outlets had circulated news indicating that the UN envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily; is set to announce a map tasking the Presidential Council with issuing election legislation and decrees and freezing the work of HoR and HCS.
