The Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR) expressed on Sunday its deep regret at the failure of the UN Security Council to adopt a draft ceasefire in Gaza, considering that this failure comes as part of a series of international disappointments to the residents of Gaza.
The committee warned in a statement published by HoR spokesman Abdullah Blehiq on his Facebook page that the continuation of the military operation in Rafah would have negative effects on stability and peace in the entire region, stressing the need to stop the Israeli aggression immediately in order to deliver humanitarian aid, noting that the residents of Gaza have become seriously threatened by famine, amid a severe shortage of food, water, medicine and fuel supplies.
"And this is causing the suffering and death of many innocent civilians, the majority of whom are children and women." It added, explaining that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is unbearable and an insult to the conscience of humanity, reiterating that the actions of the Israeli occupation forces and their obstruction of the entry of humanitarian aid amounted to crimes of genocide and those responsible for the crimes must be held accountable.
The HoR committee also expressed its deep concern about the humanitarian situation in the West Bank as a result of the escalation of killings, arrests, and destruction of property carried out by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank. It renewed its call on the international community and Arab and Islamic countries to intensify efforts to stop Israeli hostilities. It also thanked all parties that sent aid to the Gaza Strip, which is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.
