The General Authority for Youth and Sports concluded its activities for the second training camp, which was conducted in partnership and cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
The one-week workshop targeted 26 young men and women from six municipalities who received training in the field of youth capacity development.
The Director of the Media and Information Department at the authority, Hamzah Al-Mahdawi, said, in statements to The Libya Observer that the workshop comes within the framework of the memorandum of understanding, concluded between the authority, and the German embassy, to support youth and sports activities.
Al-Mahdawi added that the authority launched an application to allow those wishing to take part to register and present their projects and visions so that the best projects will be chosen to attend the training workshop in the first phase.
Those who qualify for the next stage will have the opportunity to obtain support for their microenterprises, according to Al Mahdawi, noting that the authority aims, through its work, to encourage unemployed youth and push them towards sustainable development by focusing more on private businesses and not on public employment.
In this context, Al Mahdawi revealed to The Libya Observer that the youth authority formed the "Sustainable Development for Youth Committee" under his direct supervision to help young people to enter the labour market.
