The Internal Security Apparatus announced on Friday the arrest of Mohammed Al-Azraq, known as “Al-Tahli,” one of the most internationally wanted figures for war crimes, including mass graves and horrific violations in the city of Tarhouna.
The Apparatus released footage featuring the suspect’s confessions about the crimes he committed as part of Al-Kani militias. It confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that all those involved in human rights violations will be pursued. It stressed that security operations will not stop until everyone proven to be involved is held accountable.
Meanwhile, the Tarhouna Victims Association said that the arrest of Al-Azraq came after five years of his escape between eastern Libya, Egypt, and Tunisia.
It confirmed that Al-Azraq was involved in dozens of cases of murder, torture, and forced disappearances against residents of Tarhouna and neighboring cities. It also called on security authorities to continue pursuing members of Al-Kani militia and bringing them to justice to ensure accountability and uncover the full truth under the law.
