The Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Health, Ramadan Abu Janah, discussed in a meeting on Sunday the regional and international epidemiological status of the Ebola virus with representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The meeting was attended by the Director of the National Center for Disease Control, Haider Al-Sayeh, the Director of the Medical Supply Authority, Osama Al-Warghami, and several other department heads and specialists. The meeting focused on the precautionary measures required to strengthen Libya's health system readiness to face any potential risks.

The attendees also discussed mechanisms for coordinating between national and international health authorities to ensure a swift and effective response, as well as monitoring and epidemiological investigation plans. They also addressed ways to enhance the capabilities of national laboratories and secure the necessary medical supplies to ensure immediate handling of any suspected cases, in line with WHO standards and recommendations.

Meanwhile, Abu Janah stressed the importance of continuous cooperation with international partners to safeguard public health. He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to taking all necessary measures in coordination with the relevant state institutions to enhance preparedness and the ability to respond to any potential public health emergencies.
