Al-Khums Teaching Hospital

Tripoli Eye Hospital has reaffirmed its commitment to providing corneal transplants at Al-Khums Teaching Hospital, citing strong public demand for the procedures.

In a statement, the hospital thanked the Al-Khums Health Services Administration for its efforts in supporting the medical team and ensuring smooth operations.

Addressing concerns over the source of corneal transplants, the hospital clarified that the latest shipment of American corneas was processed through the Food and Drug Control Authority’s designated committee, with all required documents available at the authority’s headquarters.

It emphasized that all medical supplies, including corneas, medications, and surgical equipment, meet regulatory standards.

The statement comes after the hospital’s medical team was denied entry to Tobruk last week.

A senior official in the east-based parallel government claimed the rejection was due to the corneas being imported from a non-accredited US bank.
