The security services in the city of Tobruk freed 385 Pakistani migrants, including children, who were being held in a warehouse of a human smuggling gang, during an extensive security raid.

The security forces found the warehouse in the Lakhwer area, 8 km southeast of the city of Tobruk, and they were transferred to the nearby criminal police headquarters, the Associated Press said, according to a migrants rights group.

A spokesperson for the rights group said the migrants were planning to travel to Europe by boat but were detained by smugglers who demanded a ransom for their release, without providing further details.
