The Arab League envoy to Libya, Salah al-Din al-Jamali, said that holding new elections in Libya is an opportunity for resolving the political crisis in the country.

Jamali stressed the need for concerted efforts of the international community to support local parties and all different factions within Libya so that the elections can take place in the best possible conditions, pointing that the Arab League welcomes the positive political developments in Libya.

The action plan proposed by the United Nations to Libya, Ghassan Salama, included new elections in the country in 2018, which the High National Elections Commission later announced in a joint press conference with Salama on Wednesday.
