The Attorney General’s Office announced, on Friday, an order to imprison the director of the North Africa Bank - Sabha branch, his deputy, and the internal audit official of the bank on charges of abandoning protection of public funds.

The office referred to an investigation finalized by the Anti-Corruption Prosecution within the jurisdiction of the Sabha Court of Appeal regarding irregularities in the performance of the bank branch officials, concluding that the three defendants deviated from the leadership tasks assigned to them.

The accused had abandoned implementation of rules for protecting public funds, causing serious damage to public funds and a deficit in the actual balance, as a result the investigator decided to order their provisional detention pending the case, the office added in its statement.
