The UN Envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, paid a visit to Benghazi, where he met Khalifa Haftar on Saturday and discussed developments in the political and security situation.
Bathily emphasized the need to provide a safe environment that enables peaceful and inclusive elections in 2023.
The meeting also touched upon the next session of the security working group after meeting for the first time in Libya last week in the capital Tripoli.
A brief statement from Haftar's information office said the former received the UN envoy on Saturday, at his office in Benghazi, without elaborating on the issue.
