The UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, said on Twitter Wednesday that he had consulted on Wednesday with the German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, in Berlin on the political and security situation in Libya.

The UN envoy added that they had called on Libyan institutions to focus on preparing for presidential and parliamentary elections in 2023.

Bathily added that he had encouraged the international community to speak with one voice in supporting the popular aspiration for legitimate institutions expressed by the Libyans.

Bathily has visited Rome and Paris, where he met with a number of officials in the two countries to discuss the latest political and security developments in Libya, as well as the need to support a Libyan-Libyan process that would facilitate inclusive and transparent elections in 2023.
