The Benghazi Municipal Council has issued a two-day curfew starting from 8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 9, until Monday as the Mediterranean Storm Daniel moves into the area.

The authorities have also ordered the evacuation of several parts of the city, including low-lying communities near streams and valleys.

Citizens were urged to respond to the security and humanitarian measures announced by the authorities and to cooperate with the Ministry of Interior and the Red Crescent in case evacuation of areas is required.

Heavy storms and strong winds are expected to impact Benghazi, Al-Marj, Al-Bayda, Derna, Tobruk, and Shahat, with winds hitting hard at 85 kph (53 mph) on Sunday, according to the Regional Arab Weather Centre.
