Ajdabiya Security Directorate warned of the possibility of forest fires starting Monday until next Wednesday, adding in a notice to residents, on Sunday, that there is a possibility of active, high-speed, dust-laden winds movements, which may cause a lack of visibility and the possibility of forest fires on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, according to preliminary information received from the relevant authorities.

The parallel government announced an official holiday to all public authorities Monday and Tuesday in light of expectations of the arrival of a sand storm in eastern Libya, causing weather fluctuations.

The decision excluded workers in health facilities and security agencies from the holiday and all those whose work requires them to face the repercussions of bad weather conditions. It assigned the Minister of Interior to issue instructions and directives to all patrols and security units to limit movement on coastal and side roads in areas where visibility is expected to be difficult as a result of bad weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the National Center of Meteorology expected weather fluctuations to occur in most regions of Libya as a result of its influence by an extension of a desert depression centered in southeastern Algeria, moving in a northeasterly direction, and causing active winds to the northwest.
