The Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed on Saturday the liberation of a child from his captors in Benghazi and the apprehension of those involved in the crime.

According to a statement from the office, they received reports of the abduction of three-year-old Mohammed Ahmed, a Chadian national, to extort his family for a ransom of 20,000 dinars.

The statement elaborated that the Department of Information Technology and Communications Affairs at the Public Prosecutor's Office played a crucial role in providing essential information for the investigation, leading to identifying the perpetrators.

Subsequently, members of the General Administration of Criminal Investigation in Benghazi successfully arrested them and freed the victim.

With the child's release, the 12-day ordeal endured by his family since his abduction from the Kuwayfia area on April 15 comes to an end.

During this period, videos circulated showing the child being subjected to violence by one of the kidnappers.

Security agencies and members of the General Administration of Criminal Investigation in Benghazi provided further details indicating the arrest of the perpetrators, including two women.

They assured that additional information about the criminals would be disclosed in due course.
