Derna People Gathering (DPG) denied Sunday the statements released by Ahmida Tarbah, the “mayor” of the city appointed by the military governor of the eastern region, that the siege on the city has been lifted and that food, fuel and humanitarian aid are now flowing into Derna.

The coordinator of the DPG, Adel Al-Barasi, said that the situation in the city is still tragic with the closing of seven fuel filling stations and other service companies, which has exacerbated the situation in the city.

He also stressed the continuing arrests on identity of Derna's citizens, reiterating his call on the international community to intervene and lift the siege of the city.

Ahmida Tarbah is pro-Dignity Operation and he lives out of Derna.
