A visiting Egyptian medical team has performed surgeries at Zliten Medical Center for congenital heart defects on 10 children from various cities in Libya.

The operations included an operation performed for the first time in Libya, which is expanding the aortic valve for a 10-year-old girl who suffers from severe congenital stenosis of the aortic valve and a weak heart muscle.

The team also performed an operation, the first in the Maghreb countries, to implant a stent to save a 36-hour-old girl suffering from the absence of a pulmonary valve. She is now in good health and receiving the rest of the treatment in the center’s pediatric care, and a third operation during which the aorta was widened via a catheter for a sic-month-old girl, according to media office of the Zliten Medical Center.
