The European Union Mission in Libya expressed its concern about the highly volatile armed clashes, which took place south of Tripoli in the area of Salah Al-Din, calling on the involved parties to abide by the ceasefire and ensure the protection of both civilians and their property.

In an official statement posted on its Facebook account, the EU Mission called on the Government of National Unity (GNU) to hold all those responsible for the clashes accountable.

The mission went on to vow its commitment and support for the elections due to be held in December, saying it represents the only viable and sustainable pathway to peace in the country.
