The family of Libya's former dictator Muammar Gaddafi has called on its supporters to register in the electoral system in order "to save the country and to forestall the armed militias".

The family explained in a statement that the registration in the elections comes in the necessity that goes beyond all the constants and allow all prohibitions.

The statement added that the call was not necessary for participating in the electoral process, but to initially register in order to create the popular momentum that will have the final word.

Pro-Gaddafi calls for election were met with mixed reactions from his supporters, especially as the so-called Green Book considers the elections a mockery of the will of the people.
