The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) held discussions on Tuesday with the Turkish company Çalik Enerji to complete the procedures for implementing the new South Tripoli gas-fired power plant.
The meeting, which was held at the GECOL’s HQ in Tripoli, was attended by the General Director of the GECOL, Ibrahim Al-Falah and a team from the Turkish company.
The new plant, to be implemented soon, will consist of 4 turbines with a capacity of 1,320 megawatts, according to the GECOL official Facebook page.
This came as part of the company's efforts in order to find permanent solutions to the problem of prolonged power outages in Libya, GECOL added.
