German Special Envoy to Libya Christian Buck on Sunday expressed his country's support for the efforts of the UN Envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily, and Germany's desire for stability in Libya through the success of the electoral process.

The envoy's remarks came during a meeting with the Head of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, according to a statement by the GNU.

Meanwhile, Dbeibah praised Germany's support for achieving stability in Libya and committed to attending the UN meeting with Libyan political parties. He also affirmed support for international efforts to hold elections and end the transitional stages.

The two sides also discussed political developments in the region, with special emphasis on Libya's neighbouring countries, as well as economic cooperation and organizing joint economic activities, focusing on energy and renewable energy.
