The Libyan State Cases Department has announced the success of the Overseas Disputes Committee in lifting the seizure of the Libyan tanker (Anwar Afriqya), owned by the National General Company for Maritime Transport.

The Greek Regeni Construction Company filed a seizure suit against the Libyan state before the Greek judiciary, after the Libyan state refused to pay debts owed for projects executed by Regina for the Interim Committee for Defence, during the regime of Muammar Gaddafi, ordering the seizure of the tanker, the Cases Department said.

The Department also followed up the case until the court’s decision was issued, and presented a defense on behalf of the Libyan state. Accordingly, on March 14, 2023, the court decided to release the tanker and it left the Greek port of Gioito League.
