Diplomats said the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres had proposed the appointment of Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nickolay Mladenov, as new Libya envoy if Security Council would agree.

Guterres proposed to appoint Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov to replace Ghassan Salame who quit last March for health reasons.

The appointment of Nickolay Mladenov will be endorsed by the Security Council if no objections were made by any of the 15 member states.
