The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Mohammed Haitham, has suspended the decision of the Presidential Council to reduce the salaries of health sector employees by up to 20%.

The decision was rejected by several parties, notably by the General Union of Libyan Doctors, who expressed their reservations in a statement Monday to many of the relevant procedures and decisions of the PC without consulting with the concerned authorities, threatening to declare a sit-in in all health facilities.

The General Union of Libyan Doctors insisted that the decision is "unfair and unacceptable," calling for the suspension of this resolution as soon as possible and to refer it to a technical committee for consideration.
