The Italian news agency AKI has reported that the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior, Matteo Salvini, is expected to arrive in Tripoli on Monday for a short visit, which will be the first for the new Italian government.

According to Italian news outlets, Salvini’s visit will include meetings with the Chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayez Sarraj and his deputy Ahmed Maitiq, as well as the Interior Minister, Abdulsalam Ashour.

Salvini had previously stated that he would visit Tripoli to discuss three main issues: immigration file, affirmation of friendship between the two countries, and economic cooperation for investment in roads and infrastructure.
