The Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Koury, listened to the concerns of the Amazigh of Libya regarding fair representation and meaningful participation in the political process and in decision-making circles, as well as meeting the urgent development needs of the population.

This came during a meeting on Sunday at the mission’s headquarters in Tripoli, with members of the Supreme Council of the Amazigh of Libya.

Koury said that the meeting also touched on the situation at the Ras Ajdair border crossing, where attendees stressed the need to seek a peaceful solution to the existing tension.

During the meeting, she reiterated the determination of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya to help Libyans launch a comprehensive process to end the political stalemate and achieve sustainable peace and stability.
