Libya to take legal action against Belgium over frozen assets

The Libyan Investment Authority (LIA) announced that it is going to take legal measures against Brussels regarding its frozen assets.

According to the Belgian “7 Sur 7” website, arbitration procedures began this week as part of the years-long dispute against Prince Laurent and his former Fund for Sustainable Development, pointing out to the Prince brother’s demand to obtain compensation from the Libyan government after the cancellation of a contract related to afforestation of the Libyan desert.

Abu Salim secures historic win at CAF Confederation Cup

Abu Salim football team won 1-0 against the Angolan Sagrada Esperança team at 19 May 1956 Stadium in Algeria on Sunday evening in the second round of the second group of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The only goal of the match was scored by Abdelmonem Okasha. With this result, Abu Salim won its first match in the group stage, bringing the team’s tally to three points from two matches.

Response operations in flood-hit communities at risk amid lack of funding

Head of the Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons, Kamal Al-Siwi, has cautioned that their operations may be jeopardized if they do not receive adequate funding to respond in the flood-affected regions.

In a press statement, Al-Siwi noted that despite the lack of financial resources, their teams are still providing services in Derna, which was severely impacted by the floods.

The Minister of Education of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Mousa Al-Magaryef, decided to grant municipal education monitors the chance to decide to halt classes next Sunday in order to preserve the safety of students, teachers, and workers in the sector due to weather fluctuations.

The National Center of Meteorology expects the northern regions to be affected by unstable weather conditions accompanied by heavy rain early next week.

Misrata reopens health complex after a decade-long wait

Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah attended a ceremony on Saturday to mark the reopening of the Misrata Golden Clinic Complex after undergoing maintenance work.

In his address, the PM deemed the development a crucial step towards

reforming the "dilapidated" health sector, noting that 27 health facilities have been developed across various cities, including new sections and intensive care rooms.

The Misrata Golden Clinic Complex had been out of operation for over a decade, but now it has been restored with all its historical significance, the Dbeibah said.
