The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh, explained during his meeting in Al-Qubba in eastern Libya with the Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Koury, his vision for the path to resolving the political crisis in Libya.

House of Representatives' spokesman Abdullah Blehiq said in a press statement that the meeting on last Sunday discussed the situation in Libya and ways to end the current crisis, as Saleh stressed that "the solution in Libya is to hold presidential and parliamentary elections and form a unified government whose primary mission is to hold elections as per the will of the Libyan people.”

Koury explained on X that she discussed with Saleh ways to end the current impasse and push the political process forward by creating favorable conditions for holding free and fair elections whose results are acceptable to all.

She added that she also stressed the importance of building consensus among all concerned parties to move forward toward holding peaceful elections that meet the aspirations of Libyans to choose their leadership and renew the legitimacy of their institutions.

Koury's meeting with Saleh came after her meeting with Khalifa Haftar in his office in the Rajma area in Benghazi, as part of a series of meetings that she is holding with various Libyan parties and actors in order to mobilize support for the political process facilitated by the United Nations.
