The Ministry of Water Resources says that recent media reports regarding shared groundwater, particularly concerning the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System, were made by unauthorized individuals and do not represent Libya's official position.
The ministry confirmed that it would hold a panel discussion with groundwater experts and specialists from the Joint Authority for the Study and Development of the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System in the coming days.
The event aims to clarify coordination mechanisms for managing transboundary aquifers and exchange information on their usage by riparian countries.
Recent reports suggested that Egyptian companies are exploring water near the Jaghbub area on the Libyan-Egyptian border and transporting Libyan groundwater to Egypt through an artificial river.
