The Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the decision to lift sanctions on Syria, describing it as a significant step toward reintegrating the country into its regional and international surroundings.

The announcement coincided with US President Donald Trump’s visit to the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

In an official statement posted on its Facebook page, the ministry expressed hope that this move would mark the beginning of an end to the suffering of the Syrian people.

It added that the decision could pave the way for national recovery, reconstruction efforts, the reinforcement of Syria’s unity and sovereignty, and the restoration of its natural, active role in the Arab region and the broader international arena.
