The Public Prosecutor's Office has announced that it will investigate the cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) mining in Misrata, where 10 Chinese men have been detained, after conducting a judicial inspection at the site in Misrata.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement on Thursday that when examining the devices and equipment, it was found that they were used in cryptocurrency mining operations; an illegal operation. It added that the investigations showed the existence of two other sites in Tripoli and Misrata, which the detainees used as their headquarters to practice cryptocurrency mining.
The Public Prosecutor's Office indicated that the Criminal Investigation Apparatus and the Central Law Enforcement Department started assessing the two locations, seizing the devices and equipment, and hearing the statements of those in charge of the sites.
