Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani, have discussed during a phone call, the situation in Libya, and common challenges in the Mediterranean region, including combating illegal immigration.

Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ahmed Abu Zeid, said that Shoukry was keen to inform his Italian counterpart of Egypt's vision regarding developments in the political and security situation in Libya, and ways to support Libyan tracks and solutions that ensure holding parliamentary and presidential elections at the earliest opportunity.

Tajani listened to Shoukry's assessment of the developments related to the crisis in Niger, and ways to solve it through diplomatic means, in a way that preserves the security and stability of Niger and the region, the Egyptian spokesman added, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Facebook page.
